"You're staring." Anika said without looking up from her desk.
"I know." Vihaan didn't even pretend otherwise.
"It's unprofessional."
"Completely." He agreed.
"You're the CEO."
"Aware."
She finally looked up. Met his eyes. Immediately wished she hadn't.
"Stop." She said.
He tilted his head slowly. That infuriating almost-smile playing at the corner of his mouth.
"Make me."
---------------------------------------
"You think I don't notice?" Vihaan said quietly, his jaw tight, eyes locked on her like the rest of the room had ceased to exist. "Every time someone looks at you the way they shouldn't. Every time you smile at someone who doesn't deserve it."
Anika lifted her chin. "You have no right-"
"I know." He cut her off, voice dropping to something that wasn't quite a whisper but felt like one. "I know I have no right. Doesn't change a single thing."
He reached out slowly. Tucked one strand of hair behind her ear like he'd been holding himself back from doing it for months.
Because he had been.
"You're going to be the end of me, Anika Sharma." He said it like a fact. Like a prayer. Like both.
---------------------------------------
"Vihaan-"
"Don't." His voice was low. Controlled. The kind of controlled that meant he was barely holding on. He stepped closer, close enough that she could feel the warmth radiating off him, close enough that breathing became a conscious decision. "Don't say my name like that and expect me to stay on my side of the room, Anika."
She should have stepped back.
She didn't.
"And if I don't?" she whispered.
Something shifted in his eyes. Dark and certain and terrifyingly soft all at once.
"Then God help us both."
---------------------------------------
"Tell me to stop." Vihaan's forehead dropped against hers, eyes closed, voice rough at the edges in a way she had never heard before.
She could feel his heartbeat. Or maybe that was hers.
"Anika." Her name in his mouth had always sounded different than it did anywhere else. Like it meant something. Like it was his.
"Tell me to stop and I will. I swear I will."
She looked up at him.
At the man who ran empires without blinking. Who never begged. Who never asked.
Asking her.
"...I don't want you to stop." She whispered.
And Vihaan Singhaniya - who had everything - smiled like he'd just been handed the world.

The tension. The closeness. The words that said everything without saying anything at all.
